Ruxley Cycles
was established in
1995. We can serve anyone from the leisure cyclist to the elite racer.
Thanks to our loyal customers, we have built ourselves up to be one of
the premier cycle shops in the London area. We are official cycling
consultants to several local schools and are also one of the London Borough of
Bromley Road Safety Unit's approved retailers. In the past we have been
selected as official mechanics on the British Heart Foundation's London
- Brighton bike ride. We are now one of the Metropolitan Police's
approved mechanics. In 2004 we were runners up in the Bromley Small
Business awards I am a former racing cyclist, having raced in the UK, Belgium, Holland and France. I still cycle for pleasure and my staff are also keen cyclists, so that when you visit Ruxley Cycles you can be safe in the knowledge that you and your bicycle will receive first class service. Biography
Ian Whitehead born
9th April 1964 in
Gravesend, Kent.
He joined his local Cycling Club, Gravesend CC, in
1978. The club has since awarded him the honour of life membership and vice
president. He formed Renners RT in 1993 to give club level riders
the opportunity of racing in Europe and higher profile races in
Britain. The team folded in 2000 when he joined his current club
Kingsnorth International Wheelers. The club is based in Belgium and
was set up in the early 90's by his good friend and importer of Nico
Sport clothing, Peter Murphy, to give riders from commonwealth
countries a base for continental racing.
Apart from Kingsnorth, Ian is
very much involved in taking youth and junior riders from the UK to
race in Belgium with the South East team, an opportunity they would
not normally get with their own clubs. In 2008 the British Cycling
South East Region awarded him a badge of honour in recognition
of this.
Ian also works voluntary as a
mentor for students at his local schools on behalf of the Bromley
Education and Business Partnership. This tireless work was
recognised by Bromley EBP when in 2003 they presented him with an
award for his achievements.
Ian keeps busy all year round
with Kingsnorth, the South East team, and in the winter has
engagements for after dinner speaking.
