They usually consist of: Chainset, Bottom Bracket, Front and Rear Derailleur, Combined Brake and Gear levers with cables, Brake Callipers, Chain and Multi-sprocket cassette. There is an option to include hubs in a Groupset. Seat pins are usually an additional item. Pedals are not included. Bicycles are normally offered for sale without pedals. This due to the different systems available, most riders having chosen a favourite, which can dictate their choice of cycling shoe. We can supply the pedal of your choice. There are two major manufacturers of bicycle groupsets; Campagnolo and Shimano. Campagnolo of Italy were the pioneers of modern bicycle technology and today they manufacture six different grades of groupset, starting with the cheapest, they are: Xenon, Mirage, Veloce, Centaur, Chorus and Record. Mirage upwards are 10 speed and have the option of a compact crankset at no extra cost. The Record and Chorus cranksets are carbon fibre. Shimano of Japan are a more recent entrant into the world of bicycle technology. They make five different groupsets as follows: Sora, Tiagra, "105", Ultegra and Dura Ace. Campagnolo "Record" and Shimano "Dura Ace" represent the pinnacle of bicycle technology. The utilise the best aluminium alloys and carbon fibre in their designs. However the excellence of their designs is reflected in the cheaper groupsets which are excellent value for money. We will be happy to discuss your needs and advise in your selection of componentry to suit your requirements and budget.
